New to Cruisingtalk. Cruised to Northern and Southern Europe, Caribbean and Mexico. I'm a novelist and I've turned my Southern European cruise experiences into a mystery novel, the first in the Brian O'Reilly Cruise Ship Mystery series. It's called Appointment in Mykonos. Will be out in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for some reviewers. I can probably send you a free copy (depending on where you live), or email it to you. Respond to this post if interested.

welcome to the forums CruiseNovels,
seems like you've done a fair bit of cruising....do you have a favourite cruise line ?
Do you have a preference for Europe v Caribbean ?
I love Mykonos ...its an easy walk to the town from the port although most cruise ships provide a shuttle.
So about your new novel....is Brian O'Reilly a detective and maybe Irish ?
Are you using the name of a real cruise ship or have you invented one ?
If you are looking for reviewers have you also considered joining a book club forum ?
good luck and look forward to reading more posts from you...maybe even a bit more about your book and any cruise questions we might be able to assist with.

Welcome to the board. I've thought about a novel about cruise ships myself but I am not much of a writer. I would be interested in reviewing your novel and I know my wife would be interested in seeing it.

Thanks Jack 100. I confess I loved European cruising, both the Baltic and the Mediterranean, because of the sightseeing, but the Caribbean is great for just relaxing. You're right, Brian O'Reilly is a private detective who becomes Chief of Security for a cruise line (a wholly invented cruise line and ship, but that follows the typical cruise itineraries). He's Irish American. The book will be out in galley proofs in less than a week and in published form within about a week after that. Here's a description
"Brian O’Reilly’s days as a lone-wolf private detective are numbered. Business in LA is drying up. Then his best friend, Ted Firestone, captain of the Italian Cruise Ship, the Adriatic Voyager calls him. The daughter of the cruise line’s owner has been kidnapped off Firestone’s ship. O’Reilly follows the trail of the missing young woman from Barcelona, to Livorno, Naples, Amalfi, Florence, Venice and even to Budapest, taking on a sex-trafficking ring, the cruise line’s private security force and even his ex-wife’s boyfriend in the process. Finally, on the Greek island of Mykonos he discovers that what he thought was a simple kidnapping is anything but simple."

Appointment in Mykonos is an exciting mystery, which takes the reader to many of the great destinations of today’s Mediterranean cruises… a perfect companion to anyone’s cruise adventure.

Welcome aboard!
Thanks KeithnRita. Sounds as if you've done a lot more cruising than I have. My wife and a I are thinking of taking a cruise from New Orleans next year. ¥our planned trips sound interesting. I look forward to hearing about them. My cruise ship detective story will be out by then (actually in a week or so). You might want to take it along, although it features a cruise to Europe, not the Caribbean, which is why I need to take another Caribbean cruise to come up with another plot. Have fun!
