A busy day in Ushuaia, Maersk have a container vessel in port and a small passenger vessel is in a floating drydock....on the other side of the pontoon it looks like Grigoriy Mikheev is berthed with a trawler in front.

Bit of ship spotting for yesterday's visitors to Ushuaia...Marco Polo is there and not quite sure what the white ship would be, nor the smaller vessel behind the trees....anyone else know?

Today At Ushuaia

The port of Ushuaia is busy today, 6th March 2009, with two cruise ships in port.

Calling there today is the mv Minerva from Swan Hellenic Cruises.

The other cruise ship, which was built in the UK in 1966, is the classic cruise ship ' Mona Lisa ' which is at present on charter to the Japanese Peace Movement and on a round the world cruise from Japan.

She will be spending the 8th to the 10th March cruising in Antarctic waters before calling at Punta Arenas in Chile on the 13th March, and then Easter Island on the 20th March, 2009.

Her next ports of call are Papeete, Noumea, Cairns in Australia, Rabaul, and she is due to arrive back in Yokohama on the 19th April 2009.

She then resumes her European charter work.
