Topless Deck

I was very surprised when I saw there was a topless deck! Carnival Cruise Line is a family cruise, I thought. Is this common? Are there topless decks on all cruise ships?

Well first time i cruised on the meditteranean they did have one of these decks, but i thought 'oh well its' the mediterranean what else can be expected, they are all topless over there'. Where exactly did you cruise? Was it on the meditteranean too?

The Ecstasy ship. It ported out of Galveston, Texas. We went to Cozumel, Mexico, and Progesso, Mexico.

No more seriously. I haven’t come across a topless deck before but did know that they existed.

I've often use the topless deck.... I mean i'd never do it near home even though i live near the sea because i wouldn't feel confortable with it, but on a cruise it's different and i don't know anyone else who cruises so.... a nice way to tan all over

I was surprised to see the topless deck on the Carnival Destiny. I think it's safe to say all Carnival ships have a topless deck as there is one on the Valor too. (hear that Chuckie):laugh: :laugh:

don't tell my husband that, i've always managed to hide him the existance of all these decks till now. :box2: He is a loverble man but he just is a guy i guess and whenever i catch him with that guilty look i know that he was probably looking at some woman!lol

It is a Carnival thing. When we went on our very first cruise in 1999, we were on the Jubilee in Alaska's inside passage. We went looking for the highest spot in the front to view and take pictures, and it ended up being the topless deck. Since no one was actually using it in the 40 degree weather, no one ever stopped us from taking our cameras and binoculars up there.

The NCL ships, Star, Sun, Dawn, Jewel, Pearl and the new Gem, all have areas of upper deckspace to nude bathing. Deck 15 surrounding the funnel and part of the deck 15 area above the bridge too. The areas are surrounded by frosted plexiglass about 4ft high.

You wouldn't catch me using it...no way....

Fully nude or just topless? You have to remember how uptight american society is about these things. I could never see an american ported ship having a nude area. I am surprised they even allow topless. Thankfully, the rest of you are not as uptight as us americans

The 'adult' decks are anything goes, Chuck. They have waist high frosted plexiglass around them and topless/nude sunbathing is quite popular on the ships that have the facitilies.

When I was on NCL Jewel I had a good wander around, she was a few days old and I was on the shakedown cruise, the adult deckspaces are actually very private, nothing overlooks them so anyone who wants to sunbathe in that way, can do without worrying about being watched, photographed etc. Cameras are also banned and there are crewmembers nearby to ensure privacy too.

When I was in Aruba in May, 2004, there were some women sunbathing topless on Palm Beach, and no one seemed offended, so there you have it.

My ex-wife use to use the topless decks, she would find it just way too cool and would always want me to sit there next to her... i just couldn't not spend my time looking around it was terrible

I went on the topless deck (and de-topped :yes: ) on the Carnival Conquest last year in October. My hubby was with me. There were two other couples that we conversed with while there. The men were very cool about it and didn't stare.

I must admit, it was kinda cool. :nuts: I would not have done it without my hubby there though.

I had a camera, but hubby only took pics of ME.
