ss ARCADIA was broken up at Keelung in Taiwan, in 1979/1980.
The photos are from my collection.

She had entered service in 1954 and besides her line voyages to Australia she also made short cruises from the UK and Australia.

I made a relief trip on her in 1974 to organize some of the service required for our American and Canadian passengers when she did some seven day cruises from Vancouver to Alaska.

Such a shame to see a liner go like that. The latest Arcadia was in Sydney recently and some of the passengers who sailed on the old ship had a reunion. I dare say there were many happy memories of the old ship.

Too many of them are being destroyed, a whole era just wiped out of the history books, it's sad.
