"Elegant, but not stuffy" best describes the atmosphere on board Braemar which came into service in 2001. Expansive windows, large open decks, and a spectacular five-deck attrium create a sense of space noticeably absent from so many of today's cruising giants. Her stylish mood is enhanced by polished woods and gleaming brass, set off by subtle lighting and rich fabrics in mellow hues. At 19,089 tons and with 376 well-appointed cabins and suites, Braemar upholds the Fred. Olsen tradition of small-ship intimacy without compromising on personal space.

Braemar To Be Enlarged

Braemar has arrived at the ship yard of Blohm & Voss to be enlarged. :(

Her tonnage will increase from 19,089 grt to about 23,000 grt.

Passenger numbers will increase from a 727, average occupancy, to 977 and
her crew will also increase from 310 to about 500.

She is expected to return to service on the 5th July 2008. :hoh:

This is the same shipyard that recently enlarged the Balmoral.

Once the Braemar is finished all the ships in the Fred Olsen fleet apart from Black Prince will have been enlarged.

Hi

I think someone has got their sums wrong on the number she carried before lengthening ! :roflmao:

The Fred Olsen Cruises brochure for 2008/9 shows she carried 727 standard occupancy with a maximum of 819 ! :hoh:

I am sure that sometimes they include the single cabins as twins. There are so few ships with single cabins, it is an easy mistake to make, especially if she had all twins prior to FOCL ownership, which is likely to be the case.

Hi

There is also always the chance this was the number she carried before Fred Olsen bought her and made some of the cabins into singles :hoh:
