Deckhand
The mv Athena got delayed in departing from the Greek port of Piraeus yesterday due to a strike which prevented passengers from boarding any of the cruise ships or ferries in port.

She was listed as sailing at 12.30 hrs on Tuesday 23rd November but did not manage to leave the port until 04.30 hrs today, 24th November 2010 according to the ship AIS position maps.

She is now cruising at 15.9 knots and her arrival time at Port Said is shown on the AIS maps as 19.00 hrs on the 25th November.

She should have been in Port Said from 06.00 hrs to 23.59 hrs on the 25th November 2010 so that passsengers could visit the pyramids and Cairo !

At present it looks as if her transit of the Suez Canal may not be delayed.

After passing through the Suez Canal her next port is scheduled to be Colombo, in Sri Lanka, where she is due to arrive for a seven hour visit on the 6th December 2010 at 13.00 hrs.
