One of the original RCL Cruises ship the 1970's built ' Song of Norway ' has been sold to a chinese ship breaking company.

In recent years she has had a chequred history which included being detained in New York in 2008 while named ' Pacific Pearl ' and on charter to the Japanese Peace Movement after problems were found with her hull. Later the charter was cancelled as she was also having several other mechanical problems.

In recent years she was sold to a Chinese company to operate cruises around Taiwan but although refitting work was report as being started it appears the work was not completed.

Picture below shows her in 1997 after she had been sold by RCL to the UK Airtours owned Sun Cruises and renamed ' Sundream '.

At that time her funnel lounge was removed.

Well it looks like it is the swan song for the Song of Norway. Too bad they couldn't find some other use for it
like a hotel.
