Hi

Aegean Pearl has sailed from Pireaus about midday and is making 16.5 knots through the port seperation route so it appears she will make up her schedule.

Thanks Neil, I wonder if it was a glancing blow. Pearl doesn't sound too badly damaged...hopefully the same can be said of Zenith too.

When Celebration & Ocean Majesty tangled in Geiranger last summer, the damage was reasonably extensive but Celebration was able to continue, but OM wasn't.

Zenith not due to leave port until 22.00hrs. Reports seem to infer that Zenith hit Aegean Pearl ( sailed on her when she was Seawing. ) Fancy hitting someone more than twice your age.

That would throw a question as to where was the harbour pilot on board both ships when the collision occurred.

Default Todays Collision..

Hi

I would think that the Zenith would have had a pilot on board but not on Aegean Pearl as she was moored up.

Sometimes ship captains are given a licence and allowed to enter the regular ports they call at without a pilot on board.

This may apply to most of the Louis cruise ships docking in Piraeus, which is their home port.

Re the collision involving Ocean Majesty, in the Fjords last year, she had a lifeboat crushed so would have been left with insufficent safety equipment which resulted in the rest of the cruise being cancelled.

It will be interesting to see photos of the damage on both vessels this time.

It will also be interesting to see who's fault it was too. Someone will have been kicked in the backside over this.

One of the common sayings in the US Navy was, "Collision at sea can ruin your whole day."

At sea is one thing Larry, but Aegean Pearl was attached to the dockside on this one...Zenith attacked it

Default Zenith

Hi

The Zenith sailed from Piraeus about 22.00 hrs. tonight, local time.

She is now cruising at 16.8 knots and the AIS maps show her as due to arrive at Santorini at 04.00 hrs tomorrow, 29th July.
