Lightbulb Australasia No. 3 market for Voyages of Discovery

Quote:
Australasia is the third biggest source of passengers for niche cruise operator Voyages of Discovery and it is a fast-growing market, md David Yellow told Seatrade Insider in Sydney today.

Yellow goes to Queensland tomorrow for Cruiseco 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Coolum where he will join an impressive lineup of industry speakers.

He will brief the Australian consortium of cruise specialists on the 20,186gt Discovery’s 2008/09 programme that includes ‘grand voyages’ with free return air travel from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Passengers earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points for the sea, as well as air, content of these Cruiseco packages.

He will also outline Swan Hellenic’s 2009 river cruises on the Danube and Rhone with chartered A-ROSA five-star vessels.

Yellow, whose regional gsa is Cruise Vacations Australasia, will go to New Zealand on Sunday before returning to the UK on March 12.

He confirmed plans to acquire additional tonnage for Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic, both one-ship companies in the All Leisure Group.

‘There is heavy demand for our products and we really need the extra capacity for 2010,’ he said. 'Obviously, the important thing is to get the right ship at the right price.’
