TUI says European antitrust authorities approve cruise jv with RCI
Quote:
HAMBURG (Thomson Financial) - TUI AG said European antitrust authorities approved its plan to set up a cruise joint venture with Royal Caribbean Cruises.
It said TUI Cruises will be founded by the end of March, with each partner holding a 50 pct stake in the venture.
The new company will be based in Hamburg and headed by Richard Vogel.
'TUI Cruises will not only expand the current cruise offering but also provide a real alternative in the premium market,' Vogel said in a statement.
The first TUI Cruise ship is scheduled to set sail in May 2009.
