Hi Middy, we too are returning on the Calypso this year, 28th July, doing the same 2 weeks as last year (Crimean followed by Ionian). Hoping for a better ride across the Black Sea than last year!
Not sure how we will get on with the new smoking regulations though.
Three new ports sound nice- have you any info on Zante to share?

Hi Kate,

Must have been pictures of your crossing we saw on the bridge. Somewhat high seas.
Didn't go into great detail re Zante this week as we had to talk on the run as a little busy at work. Gonna get more details later. Think I will go for the beach option, it's about 10 minutes taxi ride I gather. When I get more info I'll let you know.
Looking forward to sailing through the Corinth canal again.

Knowing us we will even get up at 3am for the ride back through too.

With regards to the new smoking policy I suppose I'm lucky. Hubby gave up about a decade ago, when he gave up I started not to smoke in the house so now smoke on back doorstep, so used to having to go out of my way for a ciggie. When on Calypso last always smoked on the outside deck, except once when we were in port and they were refueling, we were told not to smoke on open decks so did have one in the casino.
Could be a few people a little tense when they are refuelling. Mind you if you are anything like me, In that instance I'd have to get off the ship and have one.

Well we have booked a cabin as near as we can get to the outside door at the back to make life a bit easier! Last year we were right at the front- much too far to walk! It's just the bad weather issue really, it was too rough to go outside one evening and night last year. Unless we can give up smoking I think we might have to give up cruising, it's just getting a bit too restrictive for us.

We don't have a cabin number yet. Had one right down at bottom on deck one last year. Big room. Hoping might get one of those again this year. So was a walk for a ciggie but good exercise to walk all the food off. Once made me eat two big bowls of treacle sponge and custard not that I protested

We spent most of the cruise sat on shady part of promenade deck watching world go by. So was alright for me smokes.

Greece had a 6.4 (EMSC) earthquake yesterday, quite a few smaller aftershocks since.

Yes- saw that on Cruise critic yesterday, but not a thing in papers or tv news. Sadly at least a couple of deaths according to CNN on internet.

Did have it on breaking news line on bottom of TV. Still having lots of smaller quakes 3s today, hope it's not rattled any of the rocks down in the Corinth.
Feel for the locals when you have had a big one, every little rattle must be worrying.
