SuperStar Virgo crew helps in rescue of 3 crew men on sunken boat
SINGAPORE: A crew member on a Star Cruises Superstar Virgo ship has helped in the rescue of 3 men off the waters of Malacca.
Star Cruises said in a statement that an alert lookout on the ship's bridge had spotted the 3 crew members of a sunken fishing boat about 12 nautical miles off the coast of Malacca in the Straits of Malacca, a busy waterway.
The ship was on its way to Singapore from Phuket with 2000 passengers on board.
A smoke buoy was released to mark where the men were in the water, and a tanker which was closest, picked up the survivors.
The company says the same ship has been involved in similar rescues more than twice last year. - CNA /dt
