Star Cruises is redeploying its 1,960 guest SuperStar Virgo to Hong Kong from April.
The move is part of the cruise line’s commitment to providing interesting Far East cruise options for international markets such as the UK, and development in the greater China market.
It is hoped the deployment of the ship to Hong Kong will also help to boost Hong Kong’s market significance as an international cruise centre.
"This is SuperStar Virgo’s first ever season based from Hong Kong and the move presents lots of opportunities for specialist cruise agents whose clients are looking for new non-traditional cruise itineraries," said Mick Dupont, director of sales and marketing for Star Cruises in Europe.
"Plus, Far East operators can combine these cruises with city breaks and longer stays in China for a package in the region that appeals to both stalwart and first time cruisers looking to maximise their time in the Far East."
SuperStar Virgo will depart from Singapore on March 28th and be based from Hong Kong until October 19th.

The arrival of SuperStar Virgo, the largest and most extravagant ship in the Star Cruises' fleet, has demonstrated Hong Kong's growing importance as a leading cruise hub in the region, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma says.
Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Mr Ma said the spectacular Victoria Harbour provides the best backdrop for the liner.
SuperStar Virgo is of 76,800 gross tonnage and as big as 12 soccer fields. It has 13 decks with 935 cabins and 1,870 lower berths. The ship provides onboard dining, recreation and entertainment for holidaymakers and business groups.
SuperStar Virgo will be located in Hong Kong during summer, and will cruise the South China Sea, visiting China, Vietnam, Taiwan and Singapore.
Star Cruises President David Chua said the deployment of SuperStar Virgo is part of the strategic redeployment programme, indicating their determination and focus on the Greater China market. He added the move will strengthen the development of the cruise industry in the region and help position Hong Kong as an international cruise hub.
Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong Mike Rowse said the arrival of SuperStar Virgo will enhance the city's appeal to visitors and business travellers.
Incorporated in September 1993, Star Cruises has become the world's third largest cruise operator.
