Smile SuperStar Gemini - new Australasia cruises for 2007/8 winter period announced

This summer the SuperStar Gemini will cruise Australian waters. The 800-passenger ship will depart November 18 from her base in Singapore to cruise Australia, where she will be based for three months before returning to Singapore on February 17.

SuperStar Gemini will offer a variety of itineraries in both duration and style with a combination of international and domestic destinations. Stopovers will include cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Cairns as well as popular tropical destinations such as the Whitsunday Islands of north Queensland and Broome in north-western Australia.

Mr. Chong Chee Tut, Chief Operating Officer of Star Cruises, believes the variety of itineraries offered should ensure all cruise passengers are catered for. “We will offer itineraries ranging from 7 nights to 26 nights circumnavigating the continent from Fremantle to Fremantle. Within this circumnavigation will be calls at exotic Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea which will also be included in the 17-night itinerary from Sydney to Fremantle. Other itineraries include 12 nights from Sydney and 8 nights from Brisbane to the Whitsundays and tropical North Queensland. There will be two exciting back-to-back 7-night Western Australian itineraries from Fremantle to Exmouth and Broome,” said Mr. Chong.

“In addition, we have planned for two fascinating relocation cruises to and from Singapore to Australia taking in exotic ports of call like Bali, Komodo and Darwin.”

Star Cruises has a variety of options for passengers already booked to travel on SuperStar Gemini who are affected by this new deployment. These passengers should contact their travel agent for further information. Bookings for the new SuperStar Gemini itineraries in Australia open May 21.

Today is the first day that Agents and Cruise Specialists can book their clients on the 800-passenger SuperStar Gemini vessel, as it gears up to begin its series of Australian itineraries later this year.

Leaving its Singapore base in November for her Australian summer tour, Aussies will have access to premium berths on board the SuperStar Gemini through supplier CruiseAgents.

Brett Dudley, Cruise Agents Managing Director said, “Australian cruise fans will be spoilt for choice. These new summer itineraries will offer genuine alternatives to other, more familiar products.

“Falling comfortably between the much larger vessels and the smaller expedition ships, Gemini provides an intimate, personal experience, with the comfort and amenities of a fully-equipped cruise liner.”

During her three month deployment to Australia, the SuperStar Gemini will get the chance to visit every state of Australia, and choice itineraries such as the eight-night Great Barrier Reef Cruise is expected to fill quickly.

Other itineraries include explorations of Bali, Komodo and Singapore, and will run throughout November 2007 to February 2008.
