Default Summit

We were thinking about a December 2007 Summit cruise but with the links to the bad news I'm rethinking it. What's the status of the ship now?

There haven't been any reported problems with Summit apart from a virus outbreak last November. So far all seems to be fine. Obviously, anything/everything with mechanical parts can go pearshaped and weather can cause a problem along the way too...but so far 2007 has been fine for the ship and she does have quite a loyal following of re-bookers.

Everything has a degree of chance involved, but its been plain sailing for Summit thusfar. If you have an itinerary that you like on the ship at a time of year that suits, then go for it

Hi Jo,
I sailed on Celebrity Constellation in December can't recall it having any specific smoke problems, no more than any other line.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending which side of the smoking fence you are standing) there are no completely smoke free ships...however there are lines who deal withit better than others and, more importantly, enforce it better than others. Celebrity ships are large enough that you should be able to find plenty of areas that remain smoke free...

As for a smoke free casino, apparently Carnival Paradise is about to try that idea out, whether or not it succeeds, remains to be seen. There aren't many ships that operate that rule, however.

We sailed to the Mexico aboard the Summit last year and are preparing to sail to Hawaii on a 14 day run leaving LA in late April. This will also be our second time in a Sky Suite with butler service. Overall, we prefer Celebrity over Princess and did not find smoke levels noticible on either ship. As others have said, there are always little things that pop up, but I have always found the cruise lines willing to work with you to make your stay both enjoyable and memorable.
