B+V to install Celebrity Summit genset
Quote:
Celebrity Summit, the next gas turbine-powered ship in the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. family to receive an auxiliary diesel engine, is scheduled to enter Blohm+Voss Repair in Hamburg on Sunday.
The project is aimed at cutting fuel consumption.
Over a two-week period, the ship will be fitted with an 11,000 kW genset. The installation involves the addition of a 100-ton steel section and the rearranging of approximately 70 meters of exhaust lines.
In addition, the main engine plant will be overhauled and the hull coating under the waterline will be renewed.
Celebrity Summit is scheduled to leave B+V on April 27, making way for Royal Caribbean International’s Brilliance of the Seas, the next ship in line to receive a new diesel genset.
