Star Cruises books large Indian groups
Quote:
Star Cruises had challenges when it positioned a ship seasonally in Mumbai but now the line is drawing large Indian groups to the Hong Kong-based SuperStar Virgo.
On Sunday, the ship will carry a group of 1,000 Indian yoga practitioners under the leadership of Swami Ramdevji on a five-night South China Sea cruise. Another group of more than 1,000 Indians will sail on June 11 aboard a two-night cruise to Xiamen.
Michael Goh, svp sales and marketing of Star Cruises, said that developing the meetings and incentives market has been a major focus. The two Indian groups demonstrate the company’s ability to handle large groups, he added.
They also show, Goh said, that Star is having success in selling to special interest groups and in developing the Indian source market.
