Star Clippers to extend agent training in the UK

Tall-ships specialist Star Clippers is to train more UK agents following its first series of training sessions with Scottish agents.

A rise in bookings for Star Clippers at the start of the year exceeded forecast sales figures, the company claimed, prompting the focus on agent training.

The line invited 30 agents from travel agencies in Glasgow and Edinburgh to two training afternoons in March.

Kelly Brooks, sales executive at Star Clippers, who oversaw the sessions, said: “This was a great opportunity for Scottish travel agents to learn about Star Clippers and I am certain it has given us strong product awareness within Scotland.”

The two-hour sessions consisted of product training, a DVD demonstration of the Star Clippers fleet and a quiz to win Star Clippers merchandise.

Brooks added: “This type of training presentation is new for Star Clippers and the success of the event justifies doing it again. We are already talking about future dates in new locations, such as Ireland and Jersey.”

Star Clippers will also offer vouchers to agents as an incentive for training online.
