Default Shuffleboard

I know that Shuffleboard is popular on cruise ships but could someone explain to me how to play this game?

Wikipedia describes it rather well:

My wife's parents play shuffleboard regularly in the town where they live. They did take a Caribbean cruise a few years ago, but I'm not sure if they played on the ship or not.

They refer to playing as "shuffling." We know what they mean, but when my wife's talking to someone else about her parents shuffling, they picture them walking and dragging their feet.
