Back in the day cruise ship passengers could leisurely tee-off on deck, watching their golf balls lob into the sea. But such leisurely bliss was put to an end in 1990 when the International Maritime Organization prohibited the dumping all plastic materials – including golf balls – into the ocean.
But it didn't take long for technology to come the rescue in the form of computerized golf simulators. In this era of over-the-top onboard activities as interactive water parks, rock climbing walls and ultra-luxurious accommodations, passengers can now combine the feel of playing golf with the visuals of, say, a live P.G.A. event.
