I have a group of friends that have been close since college. We all live in the same 30 mile radius and get together at least once a month as a group. What we've been toying with is the idea of all of us going away for a few days and taking a "women-only" vacation. Meaning no husbands or children, just a total break for us ladies.
I told my friends that a short cruise would be great but several are concerned about being out at sea or in foreign ports and appearing single. Obviously, as almost all of us are married, we do not want a singles cruise. Is there any line that offers a ladies' cruise or something similar?
Last October I went cruising with a bunch of other women friends. We took a short cruise on Majesty of the Seas. We all had a great time! Just because you are out with friends, doesn't make you look single. We stuck together for the most part, or at least 2 or 3 of us did. We never encountered any trouble.
I don't know of any lines that do women's only cruises. I'd suggest just going on a "regular" cruise. You'll see other groups of women doing a "girlfriend" cruise and just having fun.

My husband thinks that would be just fine to do as you suggest. Unfortunately, a few of the women in my group have husbands who are not so keen on the idea. Several of our ladies will not be able to go if we can't find an all-girl cruise. If we can't find anything, we will just do a different type of girl vacation so we don't upset the men and we want everyone to be able to be involved.
Other than the charters like above, its usually a case of go as a group on a standard cruise and liase with the cruise director to arrange events on board specifically for your group.

My 3 sisters and I did a girls cruise on the Majesty of the Seas this past February. It was a great way to get away for a girls weekend. There are enough different activities on most cruise ships to suit every personality.
And the best part (having traveled with my sisters before), you don't have to decide where to go for dinner every night!

Ally, thanks for the idea. I'm going to investigate these types of cruises further. Especially the "Cruise for a Cure" as we've had two women in our group battle breast cancer recently so this would be a perfect event for us.
Alpha, we have a couple husbands whose idea of a cruise is along the lines of "The Love Boat" show several years ago. They think the cruises are full of wolves just waiting to romance any available female. Personally, I think they are cavemen but we have to try to please everyone in the group.
