Silversea firms newbuild order
Silversea Cruises has firmed its order for one 540-berth newbuild plus an option with Fincantieri, a spokesman for the line confirmed.
The 36,000gt vessel is to be built at Fincantieri’s Ancona yard for delivery in November 2009. A price was not immediately released.
The contract was announced by Silversea president Amerigo Perasso during a shipboard event in Europe for the line’s top-producing travel agents, the spokesman said. He added that further details will be forthcoming.
Perasso had disclosed the company was ordering a ship with an option from Fincantieri at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in March.
