Michael Buerk to sail with Silverseas
Legendary BBC news correspondent and presenter Michael Buerk and award-winning British TV producer and director, Terry Hughes are set to join a remarkable line up of talent scheduled to host enrichment programmes for Silversea this year.
Buerk, whose distinguished career at BBC News spans over 30 years, is perhaps best known for his reports on the famine in Ethiopia in 1984, inspiring Bob Geldof to organise the famous Live Aid appeal.
Guests will enjoy his presentations aboard Silver Whisper's 11-day Indian Ocean Journey,"sailing December 9 from Mumbai to Singapore and again on the 16-day Barrier Reef Discovery voyage, departing December 20 from Singapore to Sydney.
Hughes is uniquely qualified to offer an insider's perspective on British and American comedy. The former head of BBC TV Variety oversaw production of such shows as the long-running comedy The Two Ronnies. After relocating to Los Angeles, his many achievements include a Directors Guild of America Award, six Emmy nominations and an Emmy Award for outstanding directing for the situation comedy The Golden Girls.
