Lightbulb Record sales for Silversea in Asia Pacific

Quote:
In the past four years business has skyrocketed 600% for Silversea Cruises in the Asia Pacific region and sales for 2008 are already up 44% on the same period last year.

Speaking to Seatrade Insider today at the company’s new Asia Pacific corporate regional headquarters in Sydney’s central business district, evp worldwide sales and marketing David Morris said 2009 is shaping up to be another record year with strong forward bookings.

Morris, who is in Australia for the first time as an executive of Silversea, has officially launched the new office in Spring Street which will handle reservations, sales and marketing for the entire region. He will also unveil a hot-off-the-press brochure for the Australian market on Prince Albert II’s inaugural voyages to Antarctica at trade functions in Sydney tonight and Melbourne on Wednesday.

Morris will brief the travel agents on the major refurbishments of Silver Cloud and Silver Wind and the introduction of Silver Spirit next year, which will increase fleet capacity by 40%.

He said the company’s first ‘Grand Pacific Voyage’ to be operated by Silver Shadow from Los Angeles on March 7 next year will clearly be a huge success and revealed another world cruise is on the drawing board for 2010.

Now that it no longer uses GSAs in Australia, Silversea will review the performance of all travel agents at the end of this year when it will introduce a tiered commission structure to reward top producers.
