Silversea Cruises’ Silver Cloud currently sailing in the Med became the first American cruiseship to call in Algeria when the 296-passenger luxury ship visited the port of Bejaia, during the last week of October.

Ivan Mifsud, managing director of Mifsud Brothers Ltd, Malta who together with an Algerian partner handled the call as Algeria Cruise Services, reports most passengers took a tour to the archaeological site of Djemila (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and a panoramic tour of Bejaia. The ship departed on its voyage after a 12 hour stay.

This Friday Silver Cloud sails a 14-day Glory of the Pharoahs cruise from Port Said finishing in Dubai on November 24. An eight day round trip Dubai in Gulf waters follows with stops in Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Fujairah, Iran(Kish Island) and Abu Dhabi.

Silver Cloud then heads off for a winter season in southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand before arriving back in the Med in May 2007.
