SeaDream walkers tally $10,000 for charity

When SeaDream Yacht Club’s vessels headed from the Caribbean to Europe to begin their summer seasons, passengers and crew walked the deck for a good cause.

With matching funds from the company, they raised $10,000 for the Miami-based Children’s Bereavement Center. Some walked as far as 26 miles, or 416 laps around the SeaDream twins’ outdoor Deck Six.

A charity event for the non-profit center was held aboard SeaDream II in the Caribbean prior to the trans-Atlantic deployment and crew got inspired by the work of the center, a favorite cause of SeaDream principals Larry Pimentel, who serves on the executive board, and Atle Brynestad. Both have children who lost a parent.

Walkers on the Atlantic crossings were invited to contribute whatever they chose, and SeaDream matched the donations. As an extra incentive, for each walker who reached 26 miles, SeaDream gave another $26.
