T. Mariotti has teamed with Cimolai Group, a civil engineering firm, from Porto Nogaro(near Trieste) to form CIMAR which will build the hulls of the two recently contracted Seabourn Cruise Line ships. The hulls will be constructed in northeast Italy and then towed down the Adriatic and up the western coast of Italy to T.Mariotti’s yard in Genoa.

The final shipbuilding phase and fitting out will be performed in Genoa where Mariotti will soon begin building the superstructure in sections.

Marco Bisagno chairman of Mariotti yard notes the luxury ships due for delivery in 2009 and 2010 will feature a marina at the stern that lowers into the sea and will be built incorporating the latest IMO safety standards related to damage stability. ‘Both ships will be built to comply with the new requirements even though construction will begin before the new rules come into force in 2009,’ Bisagno told media.

The first hull is expected to arrive in Genoa next spring.
