Here we go again -
- get back from a cruise and you can't count the days - this post is really only two days. For those that like to read enjoy yourself - to those who don't - sorry there is no abridged version.
Vic.
If it’s Thursday this must be Montego Bay, Jamaica – and boy did they turn out for FoS. They had tents at the pier and free drinks. All the Island information you want. Music playing and ahd set up a stage. We took a cab ride with several other passengers and toured portions of the Island. We did some shopping and visited a plantation turned hotel. Upon returning to the ship we went to lunch and returned to the pier for a “Shaggy” concert. Never knew who or what a “Shaggy” was, but they put on a great show. This lasted quite sometime and was really appreciated by all. When you looked up from the pier you could see passengers and crew all over the decks and balconies watching the concert. Jamaica – you did yourself proud and you are one great place!
Back on board after the concert we made ready to set sail – we went to our cabin to relax and sat on the balcony and snacked before dinner (wine and cheese) and just watched the view as it went by. Getting that ship in and out of Montego Bay was no simple feat, but they did it effortlessly. This was the second formal night and lines were all over the place for pictures. Something I noticed this cruise was there were more men wearing tuxedos than on past cruises. For me, my suits are just fine. We enjoyed another great dinner and made the usual trip to the dollar remover (casino).
Tonight’s show was a comedian impressionist Scott Record whom we never heard of but was just an energetic and fabulously funny entertainer. He had a fantastic voice and could impersonate just about any singer. He actually performed his own version of "We are the World" and sang all the parts himself, but if you closed your eyes you would think you were listening to the actual recording artists. After the show we went to the café on the promenade and had a light snack and coffee, back to the casino for a little while and then called it a night.
If it’s Friday this must be Labadee – Arrived at 9:00 AM - Quick breakfast – tender to shore – and to the wave runners! What a blast shooting across the waters surface – wave hopping and tight turns! After 90 minutes we’re back at the beach. Lunch is a Bar-B-Que style menu. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, salads, fruit and deserts. Drinks of water and fruit juices included. Special drinks (alcoholic) for a fee. Then off to relax on a beach and cool off in the water. The local school band was brought in and marched through the area playing music for all to hear and they were great!
After soaking up sun and cooling down in the water we made our way back to the tenders and to the ship. Again free bottles of water and cool wet wash cloths. Today was too much of a relaxing day, so no treadmill today – maybe Saturday. After dinner there was another C&A party for Platinum, Diamond and Diamond Plus members. Like other nights the Champagne and drinks flowed and there were tons of Hors Dourves. Only, we just came form dinner and had desert too! This was also the evening that they gave out an album with a picture of the ship at night with a fireworks display all around and a commemorative page noting that we sailed the maiden voyage – it was signed by the CEO, President and Captain. This was a beautiful gift and made many passengers now feel that they received something that was missing the whole cruise – something that indicated being on the Maiden Voyage. Although we did hear as we walked behind one CC.COM member that they wished they were given a shirt indicating the maiden voyage instead.
Short note – CC.COM members had a good size group taking many cabins - some right near ours. Since they had a large number of cabins they received t-shirts indicating FoS and Maiden Voyage. Many people asked about them and they were told they were only for CC.COM members – they also had their own get together where the Captain attended.
Friday night’s show was the next production show called “Marquee” and it was all music from Broadway plays. Again I can not say enough about how spectacular these performers are and the energy of the dancers. They are simply the best shows we have seen on sea.
Later in the evening they changed some areas around – The Crypt which is an adult only dance club was reserved for teenagers and up in the Solarium they closed it off and made it an adult only nightclub. As you entered you would be let in past velvet ropes – when we got there it had just been set up and the DJ was playing – we stayed around for 20 minutes or so and it seemed it was taking a little longer than it should have to get started. We noticed that most of the people were a little younger than us and were already on their way to oblivion. We departed and found out the next day that we probably should have stayed. It seemed to be the talk of the day. Well we were enjoying even if we did miss some of the vents on the ship. There was just so much going on - no one could get to all of it.
Stand by - Still more to come:
