Regent rolls out varied land programs

Regent Seven Seas Cruises outlined pre- and post-cruise land programs available with 2008 and 2009 itineraries. They include such elements as a journey from Colombo to Kandy aboard Sri Lanka’s Viceroy Railway and a hot air balloon ride over Kenya’s Masai Mara.

More active offerings include learning to surf in Maui, canoeing near the Arctic Circle and horse-back riding on a beach in Huahine.

On the ‘Vintage Railway and Bodiam Castle’ program, for example, participants board a steam train bound for Bodiam Castle, built in 1385. The package operates from Dover in conjunction with two June sailings.

For ‘Helicopter Flight to Volcanic Montserrat,’ offered with three cruises from Fort Lauderdale, participants take a 50-minute helicopter flight to view an active volcano.

And ‘Elephant Back Safari at Camp Jabulani,’ available in November from Cape Town, visits a private game preserve for elephant riding, game drives, bush walks and bird watching.
