Anyone been to Quito?
Always promised myself a cruise to Galapagos. The company I'm looking at flies people into Quito. I gather it's at about 9000ft elevation. Has anyone been to Quito, how did you manage with the elevation?

Was thinking that it might be a good idea to try sitting on the top of Scafell pike to see if I could acclimatise myself, Mind you it's only 1/3 as high as Quito. But it looks one heck of a walk

When I went to Chile, I did a trip up to Portillo in the Andes. Climbed to 14,300ft in a minibus. We spent the day up there and although very high up, the air was so clear it didn't cause me any problems at all. Great experience
