Lightbulb Stroll Through Queen Victoria's Royal Arcade to Shop

Valencia, CA, Dec 20 - One stroll along London's exclusive High Street is all one needs to appreciate the quality and exclusivity of the Royal Arcade aboard Cunard's newest ocean liner, Queen Victoria. Moving seamlessly from one fashionable space to another, the Royal Arcade unfolds as a series of seven luxurious shopping boutiques, each showcasing the most celebrated names in British luxury, including Harrods, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. Tax and duty free, the shopping aboard Queen Victoria will include high-end fashion jewelry, fine watches, fragrances and cosmetics. Within the shops, guests will also find Queen Victoria branded formal and everyday wear and a range of sundries.

The Cunardia Museum Shop features a full assortment of exclusive limited edition fine gifts crafted especially for Queen Victoria by many of the world's best-known luxury brands, including Waterford, Swarovski, Faberge and Staffordshire. Among the keepsake pieces for collectors are Waterford Crystal decanters, Faberge Rose Quartz gemstone dishes, Swarovski paperweights and a selection of Staffordshire enamel pill boxes, all featuring the image of Cunard's newest ocean liner. In addition, there are limited edition ship models of Queen Victoria by Maritime Replicas, crystal ship models by Crystal Galleria, and a selection of etched glassware and decanters by Glencairn Crystal. Aft of the Royal Arcade, the Bookshop will offer an array of maritime-related books, maps and luxury stationary goods, as well as a wide variety of Cunard-specific keepsakes.

Modeled after London's Burlington Arcade, the double-height Royal Arcade features a dramatic staircase with intricate wrought-iron detailing. Shades of deep green, gold and cream create the atmosphere of a traditional Victoria shopping arcade and, lest shoppers loose track of time, the focal point of the space is a classically designed freestanding clock by Dent & Co., the clockmaker to HRH Queen Victoria and the makers of London's famed Big Ben.

I nearly died when I saw the Royal Arcade during the maiden voyage; it's absolutely gorgeous. Too bad those over-sized shops get in the way of the otherwise lovely gothic atmosphere of the winding stairs, floor to ceiling wrought iron work, and that huge clock. Cunard has really outdone themselves when it comes to all the public areas on the Queen Victoria. She's is warm, cozy, and embracing all-around.
