Dubai hosts Queen Mary 2
Queen Mary 2 became the largest cruise ship ever to call in Dubai with today’s visit during the Cunard liner’s maiden ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ voyage.
A host of VIPs and government officials led by Khalid A. bin Sulayem, director general of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, acting manager of the DTCM-managed Dubai Cruise Terminal, joined the fanfare to welcome the vessel’s 4,200 passengers and crew.
Today’s visit included an exchange of 2,597 passengers as one world-cruise segment ended and another began.
Up to 50 cruise calls are expected in Dubai during the current winter season, which wraps up next month.
