Cunard’s two largest and most luxurious liners will be making a stop over in Australia as part of the globe’s most traditional world voyage program.
The Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria will offer and unprecedented 2300 staterooms on the world trips with guests being able to choose from two contemporary and high-tech liners.
Queen Mary 2 was built in 2004 and Queen Victoria will be launched at the end of the year in December 2007.
Carol Marlow, President of Cunard said that both Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria were designed to recreate the golden age of ocean travel and were especially styled for world travels.
“Cunard offers discerning passengers a timeless legacy reflecting an era when crossing the oceans on a stately liner was the embodiment of the good life – when getting there was often more important than arriving,” Marlow said.
“Everything feels more special on ships that are international icons - from the fanfare our grand and elegant liners receive in cities around the world to our signature white glove greetings on embarkation and formal balls. Sailing aboard a Cunard liner is much more than a cruise - it’s an event most people would love to do at least once in their lives,” said Marlow.
This voyage will be the second trip made by Queen Mary 2 after her previous trip in February 2007 this year. Queen Mary 2 will reach Australia on 26 February as part of a 90 day world voyage from Fort Lauderdale, USA.
Starting on 13 January 2009, Queen Mary 2’s ‘Epic Expedition’ will visit 26 ports in 24 countries including Brazil, Samoa, Japan, Greece, Italy and Egypt.
Queen Victoria will make her first trip to Australia in February 2008 along with QE2 and will visit Melbourne, Brisbane and Port Douglas. In 2009, she will make her second voyage to Australia calling at Hobart, Sydney and Cairns between 17 - 23 February as part of a 107 night circumnavigation of the world.
