Princess Daphne to be deployed on Australian cruises
Quote:
Classic International Cruises (CIC) has just announced that it will be deploying newly re-launched Princess Daphne on Australian cruises in 2008/09 for a short cruise season.
Renown for cruises on board Funchal, CIC look to developing the Princess Daphne’s image to match the one already established by its fleet-mate.
“We are delighted to introduce Princess Daphne to Australia. She is a traditional cruise liner purpose built for blue water voyages, and offers passengers whose preference is for a ‘smaller’ ship, value for money cruising plus additional East Coast itinerary options,” said Grant Hunter, CIC Australia Managing Director.
The Princess Daphne cruise itineraries range from three-night weekend getaways from Sydney, to 39-night voyages to Marseilles via the Suez Canal.
All cruises depart from Sydney, with the exception of the first itinerary which launches on the 14th of November 2008 from Greece to arrive in Sydney on the 19th of December 2008.
CIC is part of the Arcalia Shipping Company, and owns and operates five cruise vessels Funchal, Arion, Princess Danae, Athena and Princess Daphne.

Grant Hunter, managing director of Classic International Cruises in Australia, will release a flyer on Friday with details of Princess Daphne’s 2008/09 cruises from Sydney. A full colour brochure in Australian dollars will be available early next month.
The 433-passenger ship owned by CIC parent, Arcalia Shipping Company, is the former Port Sydney, Akrotiri Express, Daphne, Switzerland and Ocean Monarch.
Hunter expects early bookings for the 35-night repositioning voyage to Sydney from Piraeus on November 14.‘Longer voyages and smaller, traditional ships are extremely popular in this market,’ he said.
Princess Daphne will make a 10-night Christmas cruise from Sydney on December 19 to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. On December 29 she will make an 11-night round cruise again to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. There will be a three-night cruise to nowhere on January 9, 2009 and on January 12 the ship will make an eight-night cruise to Tasmania.
On January 20 Princess Daphne will make a 48-night round voyage from Sydney to Japan via Vietnam, mainland China, Hong Kong and the Philippines. She departs Sydney on March 19 on a 39-night repositioning voyage to Marseilles via the Suez Canal. There are optional high-speed train same-day transfers on arrival in Marseilles to Paris, London and other European cities.
Hunter also told Seatrade Insider today that the 9,563gt Funchal will return to Fremantle on December 20 for her fifth extended season. He said there will be ‘terrific new itineraries’ for the four-month programme which will be announced next week.
