Smile 2007/8 Caribbean Itineraries released

Princess Cruises will deploy seven ships to the Caribbean in the 2007-08 season, which features the debut of Emerald Princess in the Southern Caribbean and three maiden port calls.

The line will offer 110 departures on 10 itineraries, ranging from one week to 16 days, with ships varying in size from 680 passengers to 3,100 passengers.

The new Emerald Princess will assume the line’s 10-day sailings to the Southern Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, alternating with an Eastern Caribbean route. In its second season from San Juan, Crown Princess will explore the Southern Caribbean on two alternating week-long itineraries.

Caribbean Princess
will continue to operate the line’s classic seven-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary (St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Princess Cays) from Fort Lauderdale. Grand Princess takes over the seven-day Western route (Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Princess Cays) from Fort Lauderdale previously operated by Star Princess, and Sea Princess returns with 14-day sailings roundtrip from Barbados.

Two holiday cruises will be offered aboard Coral Princess and the 680-passenger Royal Princess, with the latter charting a 16-day voyage to new and more exclusive ports such as St. Barthelemy and Tobago.

All told, the Princess fleet will visit 30 Caribbean destinations, including three maiden calls on the Royal Princess holiday voyage: Samaná in the Dominican Republic, Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands and Bequia in the Grenadines.

The "Royal Princess" quoted by Princess Cruise Lines, should really be the Regal Princess. Princess made a typo error in this news release, as I checked their website and found no Princess ship by that name.

Regal is leaving the fleet to be replaced by Minerva 2 from Swan Hellenic that is to become Royal Princess.

Regal will be Pacific Dawn in the P&O Australia fleet.

You're welcome Ken, the ship transfers can be a bit hard to follow sometimes. This one is sad though as losing Minerva 2 will leave Swan Hellenic without any ships, and that company has been around for a very long time and they only do specialised luxury cruises. They have a very loyal and now upset and agry following.

Yes, those ship transfers are hard to follow. I bet Swan Hellenic's faithful following will miss their luxury vessel. I'm just wondering how they could do that to their clientle? Guess they got a deal they couldn't refuse.

Swan Hellenic is all part of CCL, Ken, so unfortunately I doubt anyone had any say in it. When CCL want to move a ship from one branch to another, they just go ahead and move it. I think its a real shame to lose the Swan Hellenic branding and style of cruising and I hope CCL have something to replace Minerva 2 with.
