Default Shore excersions

Hi, i will be making my maiden cruise this june on P&O's Ventura , & i understand that at about 10 weeks before i travel, i will recieve a booklet with what shore excersions are available?.
What i would like to know is it advantagous to book shore trips before you sail or wait untill you are aboard?, as i would hate to miss out on an excersion that i want to do because it has sold out .
Regards
Mark

Personally I would book in advance, Mark.

Having been through the nailbiting bit of booking once on board...hoping there was space on a 'must do' trip, only to find that it was sold out

If you are able to go for it upfront, especially when the small print says limited space or similar, jump at it.

It is a good idea to book before leaving. Know on last cruise I didn't and the one tour I really wanted to do was all sold out when on board.

You might be able to pre-book online, Mark. Go to P&O website, click on cruise personaliser and fill in all your details, such as passport etc. There could well be shore excursions listed on the itinerary for your cruise on the website that can be pre-booked. That would save waiting for the brochures.

I know that Costa have all the shorex listed for pre-booking on their site as I have done it already for my June cruise...Costa are part of CCL, as is P&O.

Just an idea

You won't get the option of shore excursions until 12 weeks before the cruise, or that's what it says about mine. How about checking private ones beforehand to see if they are much cheaper. Where are you going on Ventura?

I should have said, some of the shore excursions are shown on the P&O site, but not bookable until 12 weeks before.

Ally,
Thanks for the tip about booking through P&O Cruises web site, i will have a look but as i booked through a travel agent will i still be able to do this?.

Jean,
I'am booked on the Baltic Splendours Cruise departing Southampton on 20th June, for 14 nights the itinerary is Southampton - Oslo - Copenhagen - Stockholm - Helsinki - St Petersburg - Tallin - Rostock - Zeebrugge - Southampton. These are some places that i've always wanted to visit.

Mark

Mark, go to website, click on personaliser and fill it in, you will need your booking number, it will save you time at the quayside...they will have all your information at hand when you embark. Most lines do this pre-registration nowadays. Doesn't matter if you use a TA or not
