Has anyone noticed the mistake on P&O website ,re ,the call at St. Vincent. Jan.17th.If I,m not mistaken they are selling tours for the wrong island.Egg on face for someone.
This far out, it is quite common for itineraries not to tie up from what is shown on a website (including the company's own) and one from a press/media company.
World cruise itineraries are the hardest to arrange as ports tend to change alot more than an average 1 or 2 week cruise just by virtue of the type of cruise it is.
A friend of mine did a segment of a world cruise in 2006 aboard Oriana and her ports chopped and changed from the written itinerary many times from time of booking to actually being on the ship and sailing.
I doubt it was a mistake as such, more than likely they are covering all bases incase one port call falls through and it has to be replaced with another nearby. Alot of the ports that are cruise ship orientated only have their berths available to confirmed bookings a year in advance, Aurora is well over a year away from the 2009 world cruise. The more commercial ports maybe able to book 18 months in advance but even then, as with all cruises, it is subject to weather and various other unexpected diversions.

I wouldn,t call ,St. Vincent in the West Indies ,near by the Cape Verde Islands ,an ocean away.
I understand nearby ports being substituted but not this mistake.

Like I said, world cruise itineraries change many times before they are finalised...and even then, no itinerary on any cruise is ever set in stone. It is unlikely to be a mistake, just an alternative choice should one fall through or circumstances change.
2009 is a very long way away, Swan...they have to get the 2008 world cruises away first before they even start to get the 2009 ones organised. Afterall, 2005 world cruise on Aurora didn't get past the Isle of Wight due to the ship breaking down.
Nothing in cruising is set in stone...and that especially applies to itineraries. They are possibles and maybe's and the occasional could be.

Southampton, Tenerife, St Vincent, St Helena, Cape Town, East London, Durban, Reunion Island, Mauritius, Phuket, Penang, Port Kelang, Singapore, Darwin, Port Moresby, Townsville, Whitsunday Island, Brisbane, Sydney, Wellington, Napier, Auckland, Bay of Islands, Moorea, Papeete, Honolulu, San Francisco, Acapulco, Huatulco, Panama Canal, Curacao, Antigua, Madeira, Southampton
That is Sao Vicente, Cape Verde followed by St Helena.
Definately no mistake, they just used the English spelling of the island, thats all.
The itinerary could still change tween now and departure though, as per usual with cruises.

Swan, P&O have not made any errors. Shorex are not even finalised for my cruise on Artemis in November next year yet, so 2009 won't even be on the drawingboard in their final form for another 10 months or so anyway. There is not a problem and if they show St Vincent in the Caribbean rather than St Vincent in Cape Verde Islands, it isn't a mistake to worry about. If they still show it a month or so before the ship leaves, well that is different, but as things stand it is probably a first visit to the island by Aurora and P&O will not have any idea what shorex are available there til nearer the time.

Haveing visited Cape Verde ,I just thought it a bit of a laugh ,all these folks looking at the itinerary and thinking ,this is a great place ,as a veteren cruiser it doesn,t worry me, a bit off putting for newcomers but then ,if you are going to spend thousands on a cruise it really shows you need to research it in detail.
