P & O Cruises' Aurora arrives in Wilmington
It was a sight never before seen at the Port of Wilmington. P & O Cruises' Aurora - the largest cruise ship ever to dock there - set anchor early this morning. Her arrival and that of her 18-hundred passengers and 900 crew was greeted with great fanfare.
The Mayor gave the Captain the key to the city, and the Captain gave the mayor a port director commemorative plaque. All touted the benefits of landing in the port of Wilmington as opposed to the traditional New York landing for this cruise.
During their 23-night cruise, the passengers on the 7-year-old ship can enjoy three pools, numerous bars and restaurants, theaters and even a spa and fitness center.
On today's schedule, half headed to historic Philadelphia - the others to tax-free-shopping at the Christiana Mall.
