P&O Cruises’ Artemis, currently half way through her 80 night African & Asian Odyssey cruise has withdrawn her next call at Laem Chabang(for Bangkok) in Thailand, scheduled for tomorrow, ‘following advice received from our security services relating to the security situation in Bangkok,’ a P&O spokesperson informs media.

In place of the Laem Chabang calls and ‘as a gesture of compensation’ Artemis’ stops at Singapore and Vung Tau (Phu My) have been extended to two days, says the company.

The call at Cochin, later this month, has also been extended to a full day, with the evening departure in Aqaba delayed to 23:00, instead of 19.00.

Seabourn Spirit called in Bangkok last week and is scheduled to return again in two weeks time, reports local agent SEA Tours Co, gsa for Silverseas and Crystal Cruises, amongst other brands.

At least six small bombs exploded in the Thai capital on New Year’s Eve killing three Thais and injuring more than 20, including some foreign tourists.
