Aurora Expeditions charters ship for Kimberley cruises
Australian adventure company Aurora Expeditions has chartered Coral Princess Cruises' 50-passenger Coral Princess to operate its three 2007 Kimberley Coast voyages.
Aurora's marketing manager, David Mannix, told Seatrade Insider the company has been chartering the 35 mtr ship owned by Cairns-based Captain Tony Briggs, who also operates Coral Princess 11 and Oceanic Princess, for the past eight years.
Coral Princess makes two 11-day round voyages from Broome next year, departing June 4 and June 15. They will go to Bigge Island, which is separated from the mainland by Scott Strait and is renowned for its Aboriginal rock paintings. Art historian Dr Garry Darby, who lectures at the Art Gallery of NSW, will be a guest lecturer on board these cruises which are being run in conjunction with the Australian Geographic Society.
Coral Princess will also make an 11-day voyage from Broome to Darwin, departing June 25.
Fares for each of these three voyages range from A$5,990 (US$4,440) per person twin share. Mannix said the 2007 rate is just A$190 (US$140) higher than the lead fare in Aurora's 2006 Kimberley programme
