Lightbulb Orion Expedition Cruises to expand global business

Quote:
Karen Wiseman leaves Sydney for Huntington Beach in Southern California on Friday to take up her new position as gm global marketing and sales strategy for Orion Expedition Cruises.

Wiseman joined OEC as marketing manager in 2005, five months after the 4,000gt 106-passenger Orion arrived in Australia. Her husband, Paul, the former md of Trafalgar Tours Australia, replaced Robert Friedman as president of Trafalgar Tours USA in October last year.

She told Seatrade Insider today she will make regular business trips to Sydney and that OEC, which is a member of the Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance, will continue its association with its North American representative, Daryl Hudson of Toronto-based Great Southern Marketing and The Sandra Leach Company of Wimbledon, its UK/Europe representative.

Wiseman has been replaced at OEC’s Sydney headquarters by Chris Perkins, who has been made sales and marketing manager Asia Pacific. Perkins, a Liverpudlian, was marketing manager for the Going Places retail chain of MyTravel Group before that company merged with Thomas Cook last year to become the Thomas Cook Group.

He will report to Wiseman who said he will be responsible for ‘the continued growth of the Australian and New Zealand markets, as well as growth opportunities in the emerging Asian markets, especially in the arena of full ship charter business.’
