Lightbulb Orient Lines - which ship will be their first?

The cruising grapevine is still trying to work out which ship will be Orient Line's first vessel.

So far there has been

Maxim Gorkiy - currently with Phoenix Reisen but retiring from there in November 2008.

Costa Marina - currently with Costa and up for sale.

New Pacific (ex Pacific Princess) - currently with CVC on summer charter.

Paloma - currently laid up & for sale.

New Flamenco - currently under refit and for sale.

It will be interesting to see which ship...if any of the above...are chosen. I think Maxim Gorkiy would be a good one as she is an ice class 1A ship, so ideal for expedition cruising in the Arctic or Antarctic regions.

Default New Flamenco

Hi

Although a for sale price is given in the Auckland advert a charter price is also shown so it would appear the ships owners will go for the best deal.

The last charterers plans for the ship, Cruise Elysia, before she went to Noumea do show the cinema.

It is on what was B & C decks in the days of the ship being Sun Princess and is now renamed theatre and still in use.

It also has a balcony. ( It is over 30 years since I sat there ! )

I am not too sure if the ship is 2010 solas complient although with the sale price being asked I would have thought it possible.

I think it will be a choice of either Flamenco or Maxim Gorkiy. I am hoping it will be Gorkiy and that Flamenco could replace Discovery.

I wish they would hurry up and make the announcement as to their first ship. I would really like to see Maxim Gorkiy...if she is to be the ship, I would definately try and get a cruise on her...

(The photo is her in Honningsvag last night)

Default New Ship

Hi

No doubt it is not only the cost of buying the ship but they will also have to work out the costs of having her updated to meet the solas 2010 requirements.
