Smile Oceania details record booking day

Oceania Cruises provided details of its Aug. 15 record booking day. As reported here yesterday, the company experienced high call volumes after opening bookings for its inaugural Australia/New Zealand sailings in 2007/08, and also high demand for 2007 European cruises.

Oceania said it took 856 new reservations on Tuesday, accounting for approximately $10.9m in revenue.

Frank Del Rio, president and ceo of Oceania, said the demand ‘speaks volumes to our superior product delivery, exceptional value proposition and the overall level of confidence in overseas travel.’

Oceania said it sold approximately 30% of its Australia/New Zealand inventory, with two voyages more than 50% sold.

Fifty percent of the line’s 2007 European inventory is already booked. Oceania’s three ships will be deployed in Continental waters from April through November, with 53 departures of 21 itineraries in the Mediterranean, Greek Isles and Scandinavia.

The line’s promotional offer of free air and two-for-one cruise fares for next year’s Europe season expires on Aug. 31.
