Ocean Village introduced a new look ‘Great Escapes’ brochure for children and teen-agers 9 to 17. The programme offers parent-free on-shore activities supervised by members of Ocean Village’s Youth Team.

Choice include, from Naples, a 3 1⁄2-hour hike to the top of Mount Vesuvius, for £20. In Barcelona, football fans can take an FC Barcelona tour to visit the Nou Camp stadium and see where Ronaldinho and the team change for the game before walking in the steps of the great players through the tunnel to the pitch. The four-hour tour is £20.

Sharks, fish, killer whales and a dolphin show are on the agenda for younger kids during a full-day trip to Marineland on the Cote d’Azur. The price is £28 or, with lunch, £36, from St. Raphael or Villefranche.

Great Escapes options run to 3 September and are available on both of Ocean Village's Mediterranean itineraries. The ‘Beaches and Basilicas’ cruise calls at Tunis, Rome, Genoa, St. Raphael, Barcelona and Palma whilst the ‘Casbahs and Chianti’ cruise visits Tunis, Naples, Florence, Monte Carlo, Ajaccio in Corsica and Palma.
