OV passenger dies whilst swimming off Caymans
Quote:
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has now released the name of the man who died whilst swimming off Seven Mile Beach on Monday, 3 March.
He was 69-year-old Haydn Anthony Ashton, from Blackpool in England. Mr Ashton was a passenger on the cruise liner Ocean Village.
At approximately 12:50 pm, the 911 Communications Centre received a call that a man had been found unconscious in the water by a snorkeler, in the vicinity of Royal Palms.
Local watersports operators brought the gentleman ashore where police and medical services attended. Mr Ashton was transported to George Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The RCIPS sends its condolences to Mr Ashton’s family and friends.
