Default OV2 unveils new spa

Ocean Village unveiled details of its 14,000sq ft Karma Spa and Fitness complex on the upper decks of Ocean Village Two, debuting soon. The two-storey, ocean-view spa, managed in-house, is the largest afloat relative to the ship’s size, according to the Carnival UK brand.

The upper deck features a gym kitted out with cardiovascular and aerobic machines in front of floor-to-ceiling windows. A separate mirror-walled fitness room offers cycling, Pilates, yoga and other exercise classes.

Adjoining the gym is the spa reception zone, decked out with waterfall and cypress trees, and 11 treatment rooms focusing on facials, massage (including hot stones and couples massage), manicure and pedicure, dry float and hydrobath. There is also a solarium.

The lower level offers an herbal steam room and a Hammam hot room which features an ‘Arabian Aromasoul’ massage treatment, combining warm water cleansing, heat therapy and nourishing oils. Two hours in the sauna and steam zone costs £12.50, or £20 for three sessions.

The spa team comprises 14 therapists with two fitness experts. Among the fitness programmes are Zumba (an aerobics workout set to Latin music), a Pilates Institute including complimentary Pilates seminars for golfers on how to improve their posture as well as their game, and glide board gravity sessions. One-to-one Pilates training costs £99 for three 60-minute sessions.

The new Karma Spa range of treatments will be extended to the original Ocean Village in May.
