I haven't got a balcony cabin for my Transatlantics. I have a forward outside cabin, the same one for each cruise, aboard Braemar. Going to be quite an experience, I'm sure of that

Default Transatlantic

We cruised on Celebrity's Galaxy last year from Galveston to Rome. Loved every minute of it! The sea days are so relaxing and yet lots to do if you are in the mood. We lucked out and had super calm seas the whole way. It had been much rougher on a Hawaii cruise the year before. I do enjoy looking at the sea - her many colors and patterns in the water from the foam. Loved the lectures and the people we met. Had fun playing trivia but most of all was just a lovely time spent with my husband. We took 7 cruises last year: 4 to Mexico, 2 to the Carribean and the transatlantic which was my favorite.

In April we are sailing on the Norwegian Dream from Houston to Dover. This will be our 20th cruise but the first on NCL. Most of our cruises have been on Royal Carribean. Plan to do at least one transatlantic every year.

Part of our fun is dressing up on the formal nights. Do hope we won't be the only ones!

Do you know what the temperature and sea conditions might be like for a TA crossing April 22nd Miami to Athens. We are 7 days at sea on NCL Jewel and are unsure of what to expect. Thanks for any advice you might have for us.

What time of year did you do your TA crossing ? How were the sea conditions and the temperatures. We are on NCL Jewel April 22nd Miami to Athens and do not know what to expect.
I was on NCL Dream in November and on Formal nights you saw many dressed very formally and others very casual. That is the beauty of Freestyle...you can do whatever you like to do.

Ally is currently on her transatlantic cruise, she will definitely be able to give a report on sea conditions and temperatures in March when she gets back.

Hi,
Last year we left Galveston on the 6th of May and 16 days later we were in Rome. Most days were warm and nights just a light sweater or wrap. The seas were so calm that we couldn't believe we were on an ocean! Do know that isn't the norm! Somedays last year it was so calm that the ocean was a true mirror - just gorgeous. The first couple of days we both wore long slacks and after that my husband mainly wore shorts during the day. It was just perfect weather every day. From our pics we were both wearing shorts when we went through the Straits of Gibralter and around the Med. We both however wore slacks to visit the churches at various places we stopped and I wore a 3/4 sleeve blouse. The churches refused entry to those in tank tops and shorts.

Did you enjoy the Dream? That is the ship we are sailing on April 14. We were a bit aprehensive in booking it since we have been so spoiled on Celebrity and Royal Carribean.

Have a great trip.

I loved the NCL Dream...everything about it was a delight. The Captain is a very warm and personable man with a good sense of humor. I would say that due to him, all the crew, waiters, room stewards and staff are very happy with their jobs and are willing to be of help all the time.
The "Free Style" is a great concept as you can dress up or be casual. Be sure and take in all the entertainment. It was the best I have ever experienced at sea. I have been cruising since 1980 and have been on most all the lines. Many of the ships are so big and hard to navigate...the smaller ones are more intimate in my opinion. The Dream is a smaller ship which I really did like. We continuosly saw the people we had met and made friends with which is so nice on a smaller ship.
If you meet the Captain, Please tell him that, "Katherine & Kathryn rom Texas said Hello to him and we send our best" We were on the last November sailing just before he left for his vacation to back home to Croatia.
Be sure to try the specialty restraunts they are quite good. Le Bistro is a good one to book for Lobster night. You want to make all your reservations for the specialty restraunts as soon as possible. They book up very fast. If you book before 6pm (please connfirm this) it is two for one cover charge. Say "Hello" to Jean Claude, the maitre'd at Le Bistro...he is so wonderful !
He looks like Sydney Poitier.
We were going to book the same TA on the Dream but decided to do the TA to Athens Instead.
Enjoy your cruise.
