What bothers me most about the Cruise Critic site is the negativity and
nastiness that now seems to prevail. It is a shame as I have picked up
some really valuable and helpful information there. However, I know that
many experienced cruisers now avoid the site completely, meaning that
they are not there to share their positive knowledge with others. It seems
that the old 80/20 theory is in full play here. 20 percent of the posters
post 80 percent of the negative and nasty posts. Unfortunately, this
is not something that happens only on this site. The internet itself has
become a haven for some to express themselves anonymously. To them,
I can only say 'get a life!'. Thank goodness for this site. We don't seem to
attract these types.

Cruisegirl, thanks for pointing out the thread but it did turn weird after you mentioned it to us. You just never know that is going to happen.

Having grownup being the family mediator, I posted over there recently regarding lacking civility.

Hah ! Many of the posters proved my points by attacking civility !
Some of the "missing links " are alive and well, Darwin would be proud.

I blame the board nannies or hosts as they like to call themselves. It is not easy to be a board nanny but if you take on the job, you have to do it.

A board nanny can and should shut down threads that are flaming, using very vulgar language, etc. There is also thread stalking where a person will seek out all threads their target posts on to flame them.

Delete, lock the topic, ban the people involved...whatever. Some people have to be treated like bad children.

On Cruise Critic imparticular, the board nannies are allowing bad threads to go on way too long.

We are lucky ! I cannot imagine Jeff or Liz tolerating that behavior.

Okay Wolfie,

You found me out ! I am really a 250 pound guy who races cars at The Kansas Speedway. Never been on a cruise in my life. I am a good liar !

" Pat" is really my girlfriend and works as a "Pole Dancer " on the Galaxy. She isn't home very often, so I come on the boards because I am lonely.

Now You Know.

Some of the board nannies think that attracts people who like to read that stuff and write more *******. I also read some of the posting and it seemed that everybody was attacking the first writer and not the subject. I think I will stay here where the only thing that gets upset is yourself for plastering the screen with coffee from reading the good postings
