Paying 2 cruises outright in a fortnight is not easy, Middy, but to pay the deposit or the whole thing was so little tween them, so went for whole thing.

Of couse trains go to Dover (Priory) - the bigger hassle will be crossing London to get to Charing Cross or Waterloo East. I would tend to stay nearby (eg Folkestone) rather than Dover, which I find limited (except November with other Old Boys) as it's set for people to pass through rather than stay. The castle is of course worth visiting!

The reason to do most of the trip early is the time needed.

There is a train from Morecombe at 0805, gets into Lancester at 0815. Change trains. Arrives Euston at 11.26. Change trains. Charing Cross leaving at 1223 arriving Dover at 1412.

The cheapest fare is £85.50 including tube connections.

Bear in mind that the price/rail itinerary is for this end of the year. The timetables online only go 3 months in advance so will need checking again nearer the time. Getting into Dover at just after 2 is perfect for embarkation although an earlier one would give you time to get organised. Embarkation will probably start at around 1pm.

Wont be so bad going via London as will only have small case due to length of trip.

Especially as you will be hitting inbound London rush hour where space is limited.

On my train trips in March/April I am going to try and avoid the rush hour trains, and I hate the tube trains, so will be getting a taxi.

I usually go with NatEx from York to Dover. I shall go with them as far as Milton Keynes this time.

I have to admit that I prefer NatEx mainly as there is just a change of coach and the luggage is in the boot, not potentially under foot on a train. I shall see what the train ride is like in March/April and then make up my mind about how to get to Dover next January for Balmoral.

August will be train as both are relatively short journeys and not going through London.

Cheque has arrived with Phil and he is sending out all the paperwork, should arrive tomorrow (along with my train vouchers for my March cruise)
