So does that mean if me and richard go down near the ship we might end up in a documentary?

From the various press announcements, the ship will be anchored off the white cliffs and the fireworks will be in that area. On Jewel in 2005 they were on a tug tween us and Newhaven, not sure if the fireworks will be on a tug again or on the cliffs themselves...or even from the castle. My guess would be on a tug as the ship will need to be out of the ferry routes and that would take her out a fair way into the channel.

The best place would be standing at the end of the cruise dock pier, close to terminal 2 where she will be berthing. If the fireworks are out at sea, you will get a great vantage point there.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have a small problem when people talk about "The White cliffs" as there's 2 sets (1 each side of town) but I hope it'll be near Shakespeare Cliff as that's higher & will be more dramatic.

Well I'm about to go and practice for Strictly Come Dancing (as if!!) and then tomorrow it's the 3 P's (pack, panic & pray) before I leave Friday. Good luck all!!

Richard

Middy the only difference is a shave - but I may have "trendy" stubble by Friday evening (who knows - or cares)

I repacked everything today, gone back to using the small laptop rucksack. So will have that along with my camera bag. That way I can take photos on the way down....and of the first glimpse of Gem in Dover
